After School Enrichment (ASE)

ASE Fall 2018

AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT, FALL 2018

The 10-week session begins September 11 and runs through the week of November 12.

Classes run from 3:15-4:15 pm. An after school staff member will drop-off/pick-up students to/from their enrichment class. Students participating in bus transportation will join After School Supervision and will ride the 5:00 pm late bus.

Students are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis.

If a class fails to reach required enrollment, it will be cancelled. If cancelled, parents will be notified as soon as possible.

Classes will be billed to your student account after the first class. If you choose to withdraw from a class, you must do so prior to the second class. Withdrawals after the second class will not be refunded. There are no refunds for absences or missed classes due to athletic practices / games.

Course prices vary dependent on number of classes. Some courses have fewer classes due to observed holidays.

ASE Class Descriptions

MONDAYS

Experimental Photography with Ms. Sturr - $240
In this class, students will explore the fundamentals and essentials of photography in a playful and experimental way. Students will learn about the early science of photography by making cyanotypes, camera obscuras, and constructing their own pinhole cameras. Topics will include portraiture, fashion, documentary, and abstract photography. Students will also explore non-traditional image making processes, including flatbed scanners, iPads, cell phones, projectors and light sensitive materials. Projects will also include creating photo-shoots and documenting the world around us.

TUESDAYS

Strength and Conditioning with Ms. Howard - $300
In this strength and conditioning program specifically tailored towards young teens, students will focus on strength training, agility work, as well as cardiovascular fitness. Students will learn the proper technique and training as well as continue to learn basic physical skills of agility, coordination and balance. Safe movement and proper form will continue to be an emphasis as well as setting goals and reaching them throughout the class. This is a great program for students not participating in a sport that want to continue to improve and keep up their sports performance.

WEDNESDAYS

Baking with Ms. Baird - $270
In this baking class full of sweet adventures, students will learn the fundamentals of baking. Skills will include, following and reading recipes, measurements and overall kitchen safety. Students will stir up an appreciation for the culinary arts and as well as gain confidence in the kitchen. Throughout the course students will create classic sweet treats from scratch including, cookies, brownies, pie crusts and more! Some deserts will also feature gluten-free and vegan options.
