Lower and Middle School

Lower School

“

The teachers in the small and friendly lower division at Westmark School enable the incoming students to rediscover a love of learning. The safe and supportive environment promotes self confidence and self-esteem in each of the students. Small groupings for instruction, hands on activities, and a multi-sensory approach are a few of the methodologies used. Tentative, shy, and overwhelmed children transform into busy, energetic, and more relaxed students.

Curriculum is based on California state standards, with assignments designed to students’ abilities. A close team approach with parents, administrators and many qualified support staff enable the teaching team to provide an interesting and diversified curriculum. Various activities and day trips balance the curriculum to make the elementary division a safe haven for children to meet their full potential.”

“

Sixth grade at Westmark is a very special time filled with new experiences. While still in the nurturing environment of the elementary school, the students are allowed to test the waters of the middle school. They attend camp together, participate on sports teams and enjoy the privilege of having their very own locker. Our sixth graders are a happy bunch; excited about learning and filled with boundless energy.”

Middle School

“

Seventh grade at Westmark is a much anticipated and exciting time. The students are finally middle schoolers with full middle school privileges. They eat in the middle school area and change classes every period. They continue to shine in the classrooms as well as on the middle school sports teams, all under the caring and watchful eyes of their teachers and the supportive Westmark staff.”

“

The 8th grade year at Westmark School is a magical year. There is a wonderfully cohesive group of teachers who work hard to ensure that each student's individual strengths are honored, while providing a supportive and safe environment for the student to transition from childhood to early adulthood.”
