Community Service

Camp Harmony

  • One week commitment workings as a camp counselor for inner-city Los Angeles students. Must be in 10th grade or above.
  • Application deadline is in March

Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles

  • Matches older teens with kids who face adversity to provide mentoring relationships.

Habitat for Humanity

  • Students work with others to build homes for people in need. Local and national chapter with varying degrees of responsibility.

Teen Line

  • Teen line is an organization supported by Cedars Sinai Medical Center that trains teens to help other teens with mental and emotional health issues
  • Application, training sessions, and a year-long commitment are required


College Experience

College Experience

Curry College Search East/ College Search West (rising high school seniors)

  • College Search is an exciting, 2-week residential opportunity that will help students with learning differences prepare for their college search.
  • Students will visit and compare Boston area or Los Angeles area colleges and their programs.
  • Students will learn about the legal, academic, and social transition from high school to higher education.
  • Students will experience an authentic preview of college life.

The George Washington University Summer Scholars Six-Week Pre-College Program

  • Six-week courses offer a unique opportunity for high school juniors to enroll in challenging courses and study subjects not offered in high school, while previewing an authentic college experience.
  • Disability Support Services Fee-for-Service Component: Even though making the transition from high school to college is difficult for all students, those with disabilities face additional challenges.
  • Our curriculum will give students the edge needed to compete on a level playing field with their peers. Students will develop a tailored set of goals and learning outcomes.

Landmark College Summer College Program, Putney, VT

  • Landmark College’s High School Summer Program is designed for rising juniors and seniors who are between the ages of 16 and 18 years-old. The program is highly structured and is designed to expose students to skills and strategies that will help prepare them for collegiate level work.

Landmark Intensive Workshop for Success in College, Berkely, CA

  • For recent graduates, a one-week residential program to give students a booster shot of learning strategies before embarking for college.

Wagner College Residential Pre-College Program, NY

  • Experience college life first hand while also earning college credit. Immerse yourself in a curriculum incorporating both classroom and off campus experiences that models the nationally-recognized undergraduate curriculum, The Wagner Plan for the Practical Liberal Arts, where "Learning by Doing" is the focus.
  • Topics: History and Literature; Science and Literature; Dance; Musical Theater

Skill Building and Academics

Westmark School Summer SMARTS Program

  • Individual and small group classes focus on skill building in reading, writing, math, science, and technology in a supportive, nurturing environment.
  • One to one intensive reading instruction to build phonemic awareness and language skills.

Landmark School

  • High School Residential Program focuses on building language skills, phonemic awareness, written expression, learning strategies and study skills.
  • Location offers many opportunities for recreation.
  • School requires academic testing to determine needs of the students. Small class size, six or fewer.

Camp Dunnabeck at Kildonan

  • One-to-one tutoring using the Orton-Gillingham method followed by a study hall in which students implement what they have learned with tutors.
  • Afternoons focus on typical summer camp activities like swimming, horseback riding, boating, karate and archery.

The Forman School

  • Forman School offers a four-week, co-ed boarding and day program for students entering grades 7-11 who would benefit from our individualized approach to learning.
  • Skills addresssed: metacognitive strategies, executive functioning,writing and other academic skills.
  • This program provides a safe, stimulating and supportive environment for students to learn about how they learn, to practice skills essential for success in school and in life while having fun, and making new friends for a lifetime.

SOAR – Camp and Outdoor Adventures for Students w/LD or ADHD

  • For over 35 years, SOAR camps for kids with ADHD / ADD and LD have helped youth with learning differences develop self-confidence, social skills and life skills.
  • Campers participate in exciting adventure activities such as rock climbing, horseback riding, SCUBA diving, llama treks, whitewater rafting, surfing, and more.

Mercedes Benz Driving Academy (MBDA)

  • Hands on drivers education and drivers training
  • Students can learn the rules of the road and have experience driving on private tracks and in simulated experiences

  • Learn, play, and take your musicianship to the next level. Summer programs that give you a taste of Berklee—on the stage and in the classroom.

Columbia College of Hollywood, Encino, CA

  • Classes in Film Production, Acting, Creative Writing and other areas of the Digital Arts.
  • Pursue your creative interests and earn college credits.

Summer of Art: Otis College of Design

  • Build and develop your creative and artistic skills while exploring a specific medium or aspect of art and design.
  • Young artists strengthen and enhance their art and design skills.

LAMDA, Hollywood, CA

  • Short Drama Courses designed to challenge and inspire in a supportive environment taught by the same tutors and industry professionals who lead our full-time training.

The Julia Dean Photo Workshops, Los Angeles

  • Beginning level class designed to introduce students to the fundamental operations, techniques, and critical vocabulary of digital photography.
  • Students will learn about the camera’s basic and advanced settings in an effort to make beautiful photographs, all while having fun.

Yab B’Yad

  • Yad B’Yad brings high school students together with Yachad members (young adults and teens with special needs) on a fabulous touring adventure. Participants form strong bonds of friendship and undergo personal growth as they experience the Jewish homeland, Israel, in a new and unparalleled way.
